Do you have trucks available right now?

Yes. Trail Lines operates its own fleet out of Santa Fe Springs, California, and we hold capacity for short-notice and expedited freight across Southern California.

Because we own our trucks and employ our drivers, we know what’s available today-we’re not posting your load to a board and hoping someone bids. When we say a truck is ready, it’s our truck.

Call (323) 728-7270 for current availability on your lane. Capacity changes daily, and a phone call gets you a real answer in minutes.

What is guaranteed freight pickup?

Guaranteed freight pickup means the carrier commits to collecting your freight within a specified window – a date, or a date and time range -rather than giving an estimate that moves when the network gets busy.

This matters because standard LTL pickup is usually an estimate. When volumes spike, when a terminal is congested, or when a more profitable load appears, estimated pickups slip. Your freight gets bumped, and you often find out after the fact.

Trail Lines offers guaranteed pickup windows on confirmed bookings. Because we’re asset-based, we’re committing our own equipment rather than relying on a partner carrier who may deprioritize your load.

Why does freight get bumped, and how do we prevent it?

Freight gets bumped for four common reasons:

  1. The carrier was a broker. Your load went to a load board. If no one bid at the posted rate, it didn’t move.
  2. Network congestion. In hub-and-spoke LTL, your freight competes with every other shipper’s for space on the outbound.
  3. A better load appeared. Low-density freight like furniture takes space without paying weight-based revenue, so it’s often first to be displaced.
  4. The pickup was an estimate, not a commitment. Nothing was actually promised.

We avoid all four by running our own equipment on regional lanes, pricing low-density freight on cubic volume so it isn’t economically disadvantaged on our trailers, and committing to pickup windows in writing rather than estimating them.

What capacity do we have available?

Equipment:

  • Air-ride suspension trailers -standard on all furniture and high-value freight
  • Blanket wrap capability for unboxed, finished and fragile goods
  • Dry van capacity for palletized and boxed freight
  • Shuttle vehicles for locations a 53-foot trailer cannot access

Service options:

  • Same-day pickup in the Los Angeles basin, subject to availability
  • Next-day pickup across Southern California
  • Expedited and dedicated runs when the date is fixed
  • Guaranteed delivery windows on confirmed bookings
  • Warehousing at our Santa Fe Springs terminal when a destination isn’t ready

Honest limitation: same-day capacity is not unlimited and depends on the lane and the time of day you call. Call before noon for the best chance of same-day pickup in the LA basin. Outside Southern California, next-day or scheduled pickup is the realistic expectation.

How fast can you book a truck?

Most short-notice bookings are confirmed within the hour during business hours. To move that fast, have ready:

  • Pickup and delivery addresses -full address or city and ZIP
  • Piece count and dimensions -length, width, height per piece
  • Total weight -an estimate is fine
  • Packaging -boxed, palletized or unboxed
  • Pickup window needed -and how firm it is
  • Access at both ends -dock or no dock, stairs, elevator, truck access, appointment requirements
  • Declared value for coverage

Why asset-based capacity is different from a broker’s

A freight broker arranges transportation but does not own trucks. They post your load and a third-party carrier hauls it. When capacity tightens or rates move, brokered loads are the first to go unassigned -the broker has no truck to commit.

An asset-based carrier owns the equipment and employs the drivers. Capacity is a fact rather than a forecast.

Trail Lines is asset-based. Our trucks, our drivers, our accountability. You can verify our operating authority, insurance filings and safety record free on the FMCSA SAFER database – and you should do that for every carrier you consider.

Trail Lines has provided contract transportation in California since the 1990s.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Do you have trucks available in California today?

Often, yes -particularly in the Los Angeles basin, Orange County and the Inland Empire. Call (323) 728-7270 for current availability. Same-day capacity depends on the lane and time of day; calling before noon gives the best chance.

  2. What is guaranteed freight pickup?

A carrier commitment to collect freight within a specified window rather than an estimate. Trail Lines offers guaranteed pickup windows on confirmed bookings, committing our own equipment rather than a partner carrier’s.

  3. Can I get same-day freight pickup in Los Angeles?

Frequently, subject to availability. Same-day works best within the LA basin when booked in the morning. Outside Southern California, next-day or scheduled pickup is realistic.

  4. Do you offer emergency or expedited freight transport?

Yes. We run expedited and dedicated service when a date is fixed, including after-hours and weekend arrangements by prior agreement.

  5. Are you a broker or an asset-based carrier?

Asset-based. We own our trucks and employ our drivers. Your freight is never posted to a load board.

  6. What equipment do you run?

Air-ride suspension trailers as standard on furniture and high-value freight, dry van capacity for palletized goods, blanket wrap capability for unboxed items, and shuttle vehicles for restricted-access locations.

  7. What areas do you cover?

Fastest response across Los Angeles County, Orange County and the Inland Empire from our Santa Fe Springs terminal. Scheduled pickup statewide, and interstate freight nationwide.

  8. What happens if my freight gets bumped by my current carrier?

Call us. Recovery and short-notice pickups on displaced freight are routine work for us, particularly within Southern California.

  9. Do you offer storage if the destination isn’t ready?

Yes. We provide warehousing at our Santa Fe Springs facility, which is common on project freight where site readiness slips.
